DR. JAMES NEUENSCHWANDER, M.D. (Dr. Neu)
Dr. Neu founded Bio Energy Medical Center in 1988. Dr. Neu's philosophy is that we are designed to be well—illness results when something is preventing that wellness. Discover and treat that something and the body heals itself. Dr. Neu brings this philosophy along with a wealth of knowledge, experience, empathy, and a true caring for people to each patient encounter. He appreciates the value of Western Medicine and technology play in treating patients. Fortunately for his patients, he also appreciates the value of using methods that have been used for hundreds of years also to treat patients, especially in prevention and in the treatment of chronic conditions.
DR. DALINDA REESE, M.D.
Dr. Dalinda Reese is an Integrative Wellness Practitioner who has training and experience in both Mainstream Medicine and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) modalities. She graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1981 and moved to Richmond, Virginia. Following residencies and Board Certification in Internal Medicine and in Anesthesia, Dalinda practiced Anesthesia in Virginia for 20 years. In 2005 she pursued her lifelong interests in holistic health and earned a Master in Theological Studies from the University of Waterloo. She completed a Fellowship Program in Integrative Medicine (University of Arizona) and obtained certification by the American Board of Integrated Holistic Medicine In 2010. In addition, she completed training programs in Spiritual Direction and Orthomolecular Nutrition. Dalinda knows that true health requires an integration of well-being in body, mind, and spirit.
DR. WEILI WANG, O.M.D.
Dr. Wang has practiced acupuncture for over 20 years and is a distinguished physician who excels in the use of acupuncture. She joined Bio Energy Medical Center in 2008. She specializes in healing patients with ailments such as: depression, anxiety, allergies, sinusitis, infertility (both men and women), pain management (includes post-surgical), and autoimmune diseases. Additional areas of expertise include: neurological and muscular disorders, digestive and urinary system diseases, insomnia, asthma, cosmetics (face-lifting, reduces wrinkles), smoking, weight loss and the general well-being of her patients.
Dr. Wang was born into a very influential medical family in China and graduated from both The Acupuncture School of Songhaujiang Prefecture and Harbin Medical University, one of the top ten medical universities in China. Several of Dr. Wang’s medical writings have been published in various highly prestigious national medical journals. These articles continue to serve as a valuable and effective source of guidance for practicing acupuncture doctors across the country. Dr. Wang was awarded “The Excellent Acupuncturist” in 1996 and 1998 from the Hospital of Songhajiang Prefecture and Harbin City Government, an honor given to the top medical doctors who have displayed an excellence in medical skills and ethics.
DR. UMA-UMANGINI DESAI CCH,
RSHOM (NA), BMHS
Dr. Uma joined Bio Energy Medical Center in 2000. She belongs to a family of medical practitioners, which has been engaged in the field of medicine for over fifty years. The atmosphere in her family has always been conducive to education, since her grandfather and other relatives are medical practitioners, microbiologists and pharmacists and Dr. Uma knew, from an early age, that she wanted to be part of the medical profession; because it helps mankind to be healthier and happier. Understanding "simila similibus curentour"—"like cures like", the principle of homeopathy—Dr. Uma decided to make this her career path.
Throughout her schooling, Dr. Uma was a brilliant and outstanding student. She graduated from Sardar Patel University in India with a B.H.M.S (Bachelor of Homeopathy, Medicine and Surgery) degree. Dr. Uma is always learning new aspects and techniques of homeopathy. After completing her BHMS, she practiced homeopathy and joined ICR (Institute of Clinical Research in Homeopathy) for two years to get more experience in classical homeopathy and case taking techniques developed by well-known homeopaths, Dr. Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), Dr. M. L. Dhawale and others. She is a certified member in Classical Homeopathy by the North American Society of Homeopaths. Dr. Uma has presented many cases in seminars and workshops with her colleagues and she volunteers services to the poor and schools in underdeveloped areas.
Dr. Uma studied with Kim Kalina (follower of Dr.Tinus Smits) has been successfully utilizing CEASE therapy to help children and adults with a variety of healthcare concerns. She is currently one of the few certified CEASE practitioners in the United States.
Advanced Certified Colon Therapist
Brandy joined Bio Energy Medical Center in 2003. She is Advanced Certified by the National Board for Colon Hydrotherapy through the International Association for Colon Hydrotherapy. She attended Minnesota State University and the McConnell School in Minneapolis MN. Brandy was trained at the International Thai Massage School in Chiang Mai, Thailand and did her apprenticeship at Spa Mantra in Chiang Mai. She is also certified in Thai Yoga, Relaxation, Heated Stone Massage and Aromatherapy.
Brandy is a registered yoga teacher trained through Lifepower yoga and Lifetime Fitness.
Brandy specializes in detoxification and healthy lifestyle tutoring. She is continuing her education in holistic therapies. Brandy wishes to inspire others on their path to healing and wellness.
PATRICIA NEUENSCHWANDER, RN, MSN, CPNP-PC
Tricia is a Board Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in holistic pediatric care. She joined Bio Energy Medical Center in 2007 as the office manager. Tricia's background is predominately in emergency room nursing, where she worked for over 17 years. She received her Associated Degree in Nursing from Schoolcraft College in 1994, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Regis University in 2006, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Wayne State University in 2014. Her passion lies in promoting the health of children and caring for those who are vulnerable. Tricia’s interests lie in treating children with chronic conditions such as Developmental Disabilities, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Speech Delay, Learning Disabilities, and the Autism Spectrum Disorders. She also has experience and training in treating Allergies, Asthma, Gut Dysbiosis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, and other conditions that are a result of genetic (inherited) conditions, environmental factors, or a combination of both, using an integrative approach. Her philosophy is that many chronic conditions can be improved with proper nutrition, effective elimination, limiting toxic exposures, and replenishing missing or deficient nutrients to help the body repair and restore health. In other words, work with the body to take out the bad and put in the good. She has attended several conferences and training from the Autism Research Institute (Defeat Autism Now) and is currently working on a fellowship with The Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS). She has received training from the preconception 2 infancy (P2i) to help empower women to have healthy, full-term pregnancies using nutritional evidence based strategies for healthy children. She believes in educating the patients to enable them to make the best decisions on their quest for optimal health. Her goals are to prevent chronic conditions, improve outcomes in children with chronic conditions, support and educate families to help lessen the overall impact of their condition on the child and family. She is available for preventative/wellness visits and integrative management of chronic conditions.
IVY M. CARSON, MSN, RN, AGPCNP-BC, CHC
Ivy is an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Holistic Health Coach. She earned a Master’s degree in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nursing with a specialty in Occupational Health from the University of Michigan, and simultaneously achieved a certificate in Holistic Health Coaching from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, the world’s largest nutrition school. Additionally, she has completed the Food As Medicine clinician-training program through the Center for Mind-Body Medicine, and is on track to becoming a Certified Functional Medicine Provider via the Institute for Functional Medicine. Prior to the Bio Energy Medical Center, Ivy has accumulated nursing experience in the areas of Neuro Intensive Care, Cardiology, and in the Home Care setting.
Ivy approaches patient care from a functional perspective, seeking to uncover and address the root causes of imbalance, rather than simply managing the symptoms. The care she provides is patient-centered, and she is extremely passionate about partnering with individuals to formulate personalized plans to meet their health and wellness goals – whether that be to feel more energized, decrease body weight, or to get off of medications, her approach is tailored to each unique individual. She believes that true health and vitality is not simply the absence of symptoms. In her leisure time, Ivy enjoys cooking, reading, yoga, estate sales, and singing in her community choir.
MARIA L. GAHRY, DNP, RN, FNP-BC
Maria is a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), with board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and graduate certificate in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. As an FNP, caring for families across the lifespan, the foundation of her practice is focused on the use of integrative and holistic methods to prevent illness and treat root causes of disease. Maria believes the relationship with her patients should be a collaborative partnership, with the goals for optimal health defined by the patient.
Maria earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 2009 from Wayne State University. She graduated from Wayne State University's DNP program in December 2015, joining Bio Energy Medical Center in the spring of 2016. Her doctoral research focused on the screening and treatment of thyroid disease, which she considers an often-overlooked health problem that influences the development of many other health problems. In 2014 Maria was named a Jonas Veterans Healthcare Scholar, a national program founded by the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence, whose mission is to improve healthcare through nursing. Maria believes the role of an FNP with a clinical doctorate is multifaceted and it is essential to maintain a connection with her nursing roots which is founded in holistic patient care.
Beginning in 2007, Maria worked in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, MI. In addition to her role as an FNP at Bio Energy Medical Center, she continues to work as a bedside Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Float Pool in the Oakwood Health System.
DEBRA BRUNK, DNP, RN, FNP-BC
Debra, a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner, obtained a doctorate degree in nursing practice from the University of Virginia in 2014. With over 30 years of experience as a registered nurse, Debra has provided care to patients of all ages and in a variety of settings. Fostering a healthy partnership with her patients with the goal of achieving maximum wellness is her philosophy of practice. By carefully and respectfully listening to her patients Debra creates a safe space that allows for a productive patient-provider relationship.
A graduate of Kent State University in 1985, Debra earned a master’s degree from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 2001 and has maintained her American Nurses Credentialing Center board certification as a family nurse practitioner since then. Debra is an active member of the Institute of Functional Medicine and is pursuing certification as a Functional Medicine practitioner. Born and raised in Argentina, Debra is fluent in Spanish.
KAREN PERKINS, EMT-P
Phlebotomist Karen is an outstanding paramedic who is responsible for IV Therapy, blood draws, sauna therapy and our energy bed. Karen’s background also is predominantly in emergency medicine. She attended HVA for her EMT and Baker Community College for her paramedic training. She has attended training in chelation therapy and is certified Basic Proficiency in chelation therapy by the American College for the Advancement of Medicine. Karen loves working at Bio Energy Medical Center and helping patients find alternative solutions to disease or illness.
